Slow performance of BCM

I want to install BCM on a Small Business Server network.

I found the Admin Tool to be able to install it on an instance of SQL Server
Express on the Small Business Server.

Is it possible to install BCM on the client with SQL Express so that it only
connects to the Server copy ?

I found that installing BCM on a workstation seriously affects performance.

Hi Arthur,

well, BCM needs the local installation of SQL Express on a client machine
for offline synchronisazion. When not working offline, the local SQL
instance will not be used. But do not deinstall it! It's needed by the local
BCM installation. BCM uses function calls of this local SQL installation to
access a remote database. So use the admin tool to create a remote database
on the server and then install BCM on your client (with SQL Express) and
connect to the remote database. And thats's it. Start to work online. But
when you want to go offline with this data - you have to have a local SQL
instance for sync.

If your bcm will only access a database on another machine, and no
other software is using that sql server instance on your machine, then
you can shutdown the NT service; Sql Server (MSSMLBIZ) in v3. That
will make your machine startup and generally run faster. You can even
uninstall sql server from the machine if no other software is using
it. You do need to keep the sql server client software so your client
can talk to the database on the server.

I am running Office Professional 2007, including BCM, on Windows XP with 1GB
RAM. However, SQL Server regularly consumes upwards of 200MB of memory and
all applications are noticeably slowed. Any suggestions for enhancing
performance would be appreciated.
