Slow Performance Problem

D

Debbie

We are new users of MSP 2002 Enterprise and have just
began loading the server with new projects in the last
month. I am now experiencing incredibly slow performance
in even accessing a project. (Approximately 1+ minute to
open the project and another 3+ to bring up the enterprise
resource pool) We purchased three new very large servers
and the PMs all have new laptop computers, so it isn't a
question of equipment.

We currently have about 380 projects, each with between 25
to 85 tasks in the data base and it will continue to
grow. We were assured by the Contractor that did our
implementation that this size would be no problem.

Can anyone give me some idea of where to begin looking for
a problem? I would appreciate any hints for
troubleshooting. Thanks in advance for assistance.

Sincerely,

Debbie

Debbie:

There are a number of known issues that can cause this. I suggest that you
call Microsoft Support to obtain the latest roll-up patch. How many
resources in the pool?

Hows does one actually contact Microsoft to get a roll-up patch without
having to pay for a service call? It's like Alice in Wonderland...or the
grand illusion...call for the rollup, but no way to do it! In the mean
time, we sit here with thousands of dollars worth of software that may open
a project in a half hour or so, or, it may just crash.

Low and Behold, a MS tech has called. Manna from heaven. :) (okay, but
you get the picture)

Microsoft waives the fee whent he call results in a hot fix issue.
