slow publishing after synch

A

ankita deshpande

i tried to synchronize my local and remote websites and then all of a sudden the publishing speed became really slow...in the range of KB/second

it seems like it is taking an awfully long time to contact the server. does synchronization do anythign to the server? to frontpage? anyone else had this problem?

i've tried re-setting my internet settings, uninstalling and re-installing my frontpage extensions.

last time this happened i had to revert to my back-up and i soooo don't want to do that again

No, all it does is transfer files that are in your site.
to frontpage?

Nope, just files in your site.
anyone else had this problem?

Not specifically.

I wouldn't expect that to make a difference.

If I had to guess, I'd says some files got transferred
that require a long time to recalculate. Transferring a
single shared border file, include page file, or
Navigation view change can cause the server to update
hundreds of files that use that content.

Have you actually waited for the long-running publish to
finish? If not, let it run and things will probably be OK
when it ends.

Otherwise, try the procedure at:

FrontPage Publish Command Fails
http://www.interlacken.com/winnt/tips/tipshow.aspx?tip=24

And if the problem *still* persists, post again and tell
us who many pages are in your site, how many total files,
and what content replication features you're using (i.e.
shared borders, include pages, Navigation view...
