Slow query when linking to local Access table

I am experiencing extremely slow responce time when tring
to link a local Access table to a SQL Server database
table. The query runs instantaineously without a group
by, but once the group by is selected, the query runs for
several minutes. In reviewing the profiler, it has become
obviouse that the SQL Server is not the bottle neck, but
that is it returning the data to Access and Access is
performing the sorting and grouping. How can I modify
this so that SQL Server processes the group by?
