Slow refresh on Publisher ..

Hello , I created a menu for a restaurant using both text boxes, word art,
and several jpeg photos. Every time I try to change one or more of the items
, such as change a word , the whole sheet re-freshes on the screen , it can
take up to a whole minute to change one word or a sentence , it is
unbearably slow . What can be the cause of this , am I doing something
wrong?
I am using Pub 2002 and Windows ME. The actual file size of my menu is 96KB.
