Slow response from Word on typing

Hi everyone, i've searched Technet with everything i could
think of but came up empty.
A user of mine is having lag issues with Word XP on a 2K
box with plenty of memory. The problem just came up and no
other software/hardware ahs changed. Upon typing, he may
get two or three characters and then a lag, upon which
it'll catch up then only display another two or three
characters before lagging again. I've tried it both with
network stored files and local ones. settings in Word seem
to be fine. the autorecover info is stored locally,
basically there is no network activity if a file is being
created/modified locally.
Dunno what's going on, hopefully someone has some insights.

I saw your post and think the problem you are having is
the same as mine. I am using Word 2002 and as I type
the "hour glass" appears exactly every 10 seconds and
causes a pause in my typing. The pause occurs whether I
am typing or not and even happens when a new document
opens and is just left blank and the "hour glass" appears
consistantly every 10 seconds and it is about to drive me
to drink. I have searched everywhere and even sent off to
various computer/software solutions, but no answer so
far. I am at my wits end and if you find the solution or
receive an answer that works for your problem, I would
greatly appreciate a reply or a post. Thanks for your
time.

Hi Kevin,

First make sure Speech Recognition isn't enabled. Even if you don't
have a microphone enabled, take a look under the Tools menu and make
sure Speech isn't turned on.

Hi guys. I am having the same exact problem with Word
2002. I have tried everything under the sun, but nothing
seems to help. I'm planning on uninstalling &
reinstalling as a last resort. Does anyone know if there
is an eraser utility for Word 2002? I only find one for
Office 97 & Office 2000. I was told I need to uninstall
and erase??!! If you find any other solutions, please
post so I can try also.
