Slow Send & Receive

I have Outlook 2002 and a DSL connection. For several months now I've had a lot of difficulty sending and receiving e-mails. I continue to get an error (0x800CCC0F) indicating that the connection to the server was interrupted but occaisionally it works fine. My DSL checks out fine. Internet access is fast and continuous. Any suggestions on how to improve this situation? Thanks!

Have you tried recreating your mail profile already?
Control Panel-> Mail-> button Show Profiles...

If you are using a virusscanner that scans before sending/receiving (like
Norton) disable this feature and see if it works now.
