slow speed reading mails from pst file

I have a personal folder with over a thousand mails in a
pst file on my outook client. When navigating from mail
to mail on the personal folder, the display took like 3-5
sec to show the content of the next mail in line.

I have tried compacting the pst file but does not
improved the situation. Any suggestion from anyone?
