Sluggish Outlook folders

When switching between folders in Outlook it takes several seconds before I'm
able to read the email. Then when I click on the next email, it takes several
seconds before it opens. What can I do?

Is it an HTML message? I have that from time to time. Try compacting the PST
file, maybe that might resolve it...

It happens for any email, with or without html. I'll try compacting the PST
file. Thanks.

What version of Outlook do you have? If you have Outlook 2002, try going
to Tools -> Options -> Other and turning off Instant Messaging integration.
