Small Business 2007 number of users allowed ?

Markko

Hi guys

I can't seem to find the info anywhere, I must be tired. How many
installs/users of Small Business 2007 are you allowed to have simultaneously
? Just 3 ?

Thanks!

If it is a retail-box copy, then the answer is one desktop and one
laptop both owned by you. If it is a preinstalled (OEM) copy that comes
with a new computer, then the answer is one (only the computer that the
software came with).

Look in the license agreement or at Microsoft's website. Assuming you are
talking about a retail license and not an OEM:
http://download.microsoft.com/docum...lish_955b71bd-9695-4c20-8d0a-181dd324b23a.pdf

"2. INSTALLATION AND USE RIGHTS. Before you use the software under a
license, you must assign that license to one device. That device is the
"licensed device." A hardware partition or blade is considered to be a
separate device.
a. Licensed Device. You may install and use one copy of the software on the
licensed device.
b. Portable Device. You may install another copy on a portable device for
use by the single primary user of the licensed device."

Hmm... So Home/Student allows you 3 but the Small Business only allows you 1
desktop/1 laptop ? That doesn't make much sense to me...

Thanks for the info, greatly appreciated

But see, I wouldn't even use Small Business for commercial purposes... I just
can't do without Outlook which Home & Student strangely lacks.

What's strange about not including an application geared toward business
e-mail?

Who says it's only intended for business e-mail? I use just about every
feature of Outlook every day to manage my family's calendar, maintain a list
of addresses and phone numbers of friends/doctors/repair services, keep notes
of holiday wish lists and the kids' clothing sizes, and a to-do list of tasks
for the week. And yeah, I also read my e-mail with it.

I, too, was disappointed to see that Outlook was no longer part of the Home
& Student bundle. Similarly, I was disappointed that OneNote isn't part of
Standard, Professional, or Small Business. I'm a writer, and I use OneNote to
store book ideas. I'm also using it to store ideas for our kitchen renovation
and such. Choosing between the Home & Student v. one of the other bundles was
a tough decision.

Vista has a calendar built into it. since both products were released
together, I can only assume that Microsoft was hoping you'd upgrade Windows
as well as Office.

And I was hoping Microsoft would send me a new laptop upon which to run Vista
so as not to bring my system to a screeching halt. Guess we're both going to
be disappointed. =)

My system originally came with Win98SE so chances are your system is newer
than mine. When BillG starts handing out the freebies, you're in line behind
me. ;-)
