Smart tags

Hi
Smart tags seem to keep popping up for no apparent reason that I can see.
Presumably there is something somewhere telling them to do this, but can I
turn them off globally, as I do not want them?

Have you tried
Tools > AutoCorrect Options... > Smart Tags tab > uncheck "Label text
with smart tags"
??
