SmartArt

Hi All,

I have just migrated from Office 2003 to Office 2007 and am starting to get
to grips with the various improvements and differences.
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to custom animate the different
elements of a SmartArt drawing. I can animate the entire drawing but not the
different elements.

Bill,
I see three possibilities here if I go to the effect options, smart-art
animation tab, as one object, all together and one by one.
That said it will be the same animation effect for all elements of the
SmartArt. If you want different animation for each item from the SmartArt
you will have to copy it and paste back as an enhanced metafile, ungroup
(several times if needed), then regroup the items you want to animate. That
will leave you with no means to alter the SmartArt later on, so I would
suggest to do this on a copy of the SmartArt.

Didn't even think to look there - just tried to select and animate elements
one at a time.

Luc,

Have just experimented, and once you select "one by one" in effect options,
you can then go back and change and apply different animation choices to each
element as required.
