Ok, I have been all through the newsgroups here and all I can find is people
that have the same problem as I do.
The problem is I am emailing snapshots of reports to people throughout my
organization....some people don't have snapshot installed, so they install
the stand alone snapshot viewer on their computers. And they still can't.
What happens is this, the windows installer starts and wants the user to
insert the microsoft office cd after they double click on a snapshot file.
They can't even start the snapshot viewer first because windows still goes
and starts the installer program.
I have tried the security patches, made sure I installed the latest version
of the viewer, and also made sure that I copied the snapshot installation
file right to the client machine first. And it still won't work.
One thing I have noted on some machines is that if I click on the cancel
button for the windows installer sometimes the viewer starts and I can view
the snapshot file.
Not exaclty what I had in mind though.
I would surely think that Microsoft would know that this is a problem and
post some resolutions in their knowledge base. I even called an approved 3rd
party tech company called Tech24 and they couldn't even help me...what a
waste of money and time........
PLEASE ANYONE!!! HELP US THAT ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM SO WE CAN GET ON WITH
OUR JOBS.
