Social network analysis

Hi,

I found a earlier message from a user asking about how to design analysis of
relations between individuals. Condensed into one sentence, the answer was:
create a table for the individuals and their characteristics (table 1), and a
separate for the relations (table 2). I understand the reasoning behind that.

I have a related question to this. What about when the network is open in
the sense that the set of individuals analyzed can have relation within the
group being analyzed (those in table 1), but also to people outside the
group? My data is a list of relations that I linked to a separate table 3
(for partners), but I realized that the people in table 1 also have relations
between them. Any ideas of how to think about this?

This might be a stupid question - but I'm a simple guy. Hope you have some
ideas!
