causing problems?

Try posting this to the micorosoft.public.project.server group. Also,
specify whether you are using PS 2003 or 2007. Just a hunch but are you
referring to deliverables as being soft links?

I think you should ask the PM what they mean by soft links and why they are
causing problems.
There is no definition for "soft links" in Microsoft Project, so no one here
can know what the PM is actually describing or what problems there might be
with them.

Hi,

Might I make a suggestion that it may be a reference to the links created by
copying a date and "Paste link" it into another tasks start or finish field.
It is not a hard coded predecessor or successor but it is still defined as a
link in the edit menu. The problem here is that there is, as you note, no
distinction available between the links created between tasks as
predecessors, successors and those links created by copying and then paste
linking.

I have found problems with these links, losing their deifintion for some
unknown reason and I have had to recreate them. They are good for creating
hamocks for a sequence of actiivties that are not grouped under a summary
task. I only use tham for reports and would not recommend them for the main
schedule for the very reason that they do tend to be unreliable.

Regards
