In Excel for windows when you are in a cell you can create a soft return to start another line within the cell by pressing Alt+return. This does not work in Excel:Mac 2008. Can anyone tell me how to create a soft return in Excel:Mac 2008

Nope, Shift+ return won't do it here... That sends the selector up one row
in the column :)

In Excel use either Command+Option+return or Control+Option+return.

You might also want to spend some time in Excel Help where you'll find such
information in topics such as: Excel keyboard shortcuts.
