Solution for Outlook & VPN problems

One of our IT consultants, after many hours, finally figured out the fix for the problems I was experiencing trying to access my Outlook via a VPN. We had tried everything you could imagine. But this was it, since then, I have had no problems
It was a global catalog server issue and details are at the Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 319206.
