I am documenting this on the newsgroup, because twice now
I've had to painfully figure out the solution; I want to
find it here on future searches, if I need it (if lesson
not learned by now) and for anyone else who needs the tip.
On using the Win XP import settings utility to transfer
settings from an older to a newer computer, Outlook
deselects the default email account in a list of
accounts. This results in an error in which one hits the
Send/Receive button and gets the message that all tasks
are completed, but no messages are sent or received. Go
to Tools->Accounts, select one of the email accounts, and
hit the button 'Set as Default.'
