Solution to "is not a personal folders file " / "is not a pst" error

The answer to this has been posted a few times, by Brian Tillman and
others... I know in working through the problem myself, there were
many other suggestions that seemed to overshadow this solution, but I
bet for most people, this is the solution:

Solution: When copying the PST from the original (source) computer,
Outlook MUST BE CLOSED. Just copy othe actual PST file (don't bother
with exporting), while Outlook is closed.

The other popular guideline also applies: Once on the new computer,
you can't import or open the PST file if it's still on a CD
(Read-only), or flagged as read-only on your hard drive. Be sure the
file is on your hard drive, and not set as Read Only.

While this may not help the unfortunate folks who no longer have the
original PC available to them, it should help the rest of us.

Incidentally... one other bad hack (LAST RESORT - TRY THE SOLUTION
ABOVE FIRST!!!)
- This also assumes you still have the original PC... On the original
PC, import all your messages into Outlook Express. Then, copy all the
files and so forth to the new computer, and Export to Outlook from
there. (I'll repeat... copy your PST with Outlook closed first... I
present this second hack only as a last resort).
