Some of my hyperlinks won't work

I know how to create a hyperlink in PowerPoint. Some of my hyperlinks are working. Originally I thought that I could not hyperlink to the next slide by name, so I started hyperlinking to "next slide." However, now I have hyperlinks to later slides in the show and they are not working either. Is there something with the slide itself that won't allow me to create a hyperlinkto it? I have pictures on the slides as well as text.
