....lol ...so the toddler's mdb app takes too long to load ...and he's not
smart enough to figure out how to avoid it ...and here he is explaining how
stupid we all are ...I love it! :)

good stuff man

NO. MDB is just a crappy ass slow ass platform.

IT DOESNT HAVE AN ENGINE.

you can't run it across a wired network with ANY decent performance.
and you can't run it across wireless AT ALL.

MDB is a friggin joke; grow up kids

A

aaron.kempf

I mean seriously.

I'll gladly have a cook-off lol.

MDB is for crack addicts and losers.

I'm jsut saying that Access MDB performance JUST DOESNT CUT IT.

Would you rather upgrade 100 desktops or one sql server??

-Aaron

W

....if you know what you're doing, upgrading 100 desktops is a piece of cake
done from the server ...upgrading SQL Server otoh, can be a trial for even
the most experienced.

he isn't talking about pushing out a SMS; or a new version of MDB
'application' lol

he's talking about upgrading the physical hardware.
it's more efficient-- from an architecture standpoint-- to utilize the
resources on the server.

with MDB you always need to run out and buy 100 of the latest desktops;
where with SQL Server; you buy a single fast desktop; SQL Express or
MSDE: and you're in business.

are you seriously arguing that MDB is a better solution?
do you work for MS?

ROFL

grow some balls kids
ADP slaughters MDB in _EVERY_ possible regard.

RELIABILITY
EASE OF DEVELOPMENT
EASE OF DEPLOYMENT
PERFORMANCE
SCALABILITY
REPORTING OPTIONS
ETL

does MDB even have ETL options?
ROFL

and btw; your other posts?? you're diagnosis; your presumptions of
Microsoft's marketing moves?

completely false and biased.

I've seen it; in writing-- that ADP 2007 will support SQL 2005 design
changes.
anything else about your 'reccomendations' or the reccomendations of a
lazy Microsoft PM that has no real world experience?

WORTHLESS.

why dont you keep your incorrect opinions to yourself; buddy

....always educational when someone has to fake an alias just so they can pat
themselves on the back for exposing their own ignorance.

....and yes, for many many small businesses SQL Server is not the best
answer.

....got to run now, got a life, eh.

what you're saying is that for many small businesses; Access is a
better option than SQL Server?

I find that laughable.

And this isn't someone that makes up aliases; this has been my other
signon for years.

I just strongly disagree with you; Access MDB has _NO_PLACE_ in any
business.
it isn't reliable, stable, scalable, dependable; it has extra
maintenance; and it requires excessive development time.

ADP is a better, easier, more powerful system.

-Aaron

A

aaron.kempf

so seriously fucknut

what makes you say that upgrading 100 desktops is EASY?
I'm not talking about the apps; or a crappy little MDB you're building.

I'm talking about needing to increase the hardware.

you can either increase the specs on 100 machines or on 1.

Matt

what do i think about Oracle?

I dont think that Oracle is competitive; on price / performance.

On the other hand; I hope that MS gets it's ass kicked in the db world.

Microsoft isn't taking the db market seriously; and they never have.
ADP was the FIRST product to come out of Redmond that you could run
your whole business on.

It is reliable; it is scalable; it is easier development than MDB.

-Aaron

Then inform me ... where can I learn about this great technology.

Sites? Articles?

dbahooker

www.sqlcentral.com - great scripts; ideas; authors
www.sqlsoft.com - great place for instructor-led training
www.sqlmag.com - great magazine; i'd reccomend finding old copies on
craigslist or ebay
www.databasejournal.com - hundreds of articles
groups.google.com/microsoft.public.sqlserver - 30 different groups
under here
www.microsoft.com/sql - sql express is a great tool; i reccomend the
Sql Server Management Studio express for developing sprocs / views.
with MDB you're stuck with a single tool and a single vendor.
www.sql-server-performance.com - great site for intermediate
performance info
www.sswug.org - sql server world wide users group

the resources for learning SQL Server are tenfold the resources for
learning piddly MDB apps.

and then when you're really hardcore; you can look at sites like
www.mosha.com/msolap
www.microsoft.com/reportingServices
www.olapreport.com
