Sort a-z

I put the sort a-z button on my toolbar. Does this thing work?

I select a column and then the button and then a box comes up asking:

Expand w selection or
Continue sorting with current selection.

Either way, then the regular sort box comes up? Where is the savings
in time?

Sounds like you put the Sort... command button on the toolbar, rather
than the Sort Ascending. The only savings for Sort... is that you don't
have to choose a menu item. Spend that 400 milliseconds wisely...

But beware, the Sort Ascending (or Descending) will not extend the
selection, so if you select only one column of multiple columns, only
that column will be sorted, leading to possible loss of data integrity
(it works fine if you select all the columns - the rows will be sorted
according to the value in the first column).

Many buttons are just an alternative to selecting the menu item. This one is
no exception.
