SORT function no longer available on existing spreadsheet

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)

I am updating an existing spreadsheet, whose rows I re-sort each time I update a listing, so this function has previously been available.

Only now, when I go to sort, this function is greyed.

Any suggestions?

Did you protect your worksheet (Tools/Protection/Protect sheet)?
