Sorting By Sub Totals?

Steve

How do you sort by sub totals? I have a list that has
been sorted by column A (a location variable) and then
subtotaled numbers in a seperate column (all sales of all
products at location). I want to sort by this sub totaled
number in a descending order while maintaining the group
of all rows pertaining to the location. Can this be done?

Additionally, there are 12,000 rows in this list (products
at various locations) so doing this manually is not an
option I want to pursue. Any suggestions?

Please email any insight you may have. Thanks.

Steve, note that when you create subtotals, Excel creates an outline for the
data in the worksheet. All you have to do is collapse the outline so that
only the subtotals show, then sort descending on the subtotals. The groups
will remain intact.

When I have grouped rows, and I collapse, and then sort, the rows included in the group do NOT follow.... and are then spread all over the worksheet -- what am I doing wrong?
