Select the entire page by clicking on the box between the
#1 row and column A (in the gray area)
Now that the entire spreadsheet is selected
Click on Data
Sort
Pick your sort option and click okay.
This is the way I do it all the time, I never use the A-Z
icon, it messes things up.
