Sound -bad video

I am running Vista Home Premium on a laptop with 3MG memory and has a GeForce
video card.
I have a file saved as in AVI format. In PPT it plays the sound perfectly
but no video.
The file will play using Windows Media Player.
Can I use AVI files with PPt if so any idea what my problem is?

Thank you for your help. It will take me quite some time to go through all
the info. that is on the site you suggested.
Just one question 'Do you know if PPT can use AVI files providing everything
else is OK?'

Two things;

Make certain the path to the presentation and the video is kept short and in
the same folder. (Example: make a new folder called C:\test and move the
presentation and video to it and then re-insert the video.)

If that fails, install the Vista Codec Pack from :

Just be aware, if you move it to another PC it will probably fail. To
