Sound effects as part of an animation

I have added a sound file (chimes) as part of an animation and the sound does
not play. If I add a different sound file (bell) it works fine. If I use
the sound file (chimes) as a sound clip to the slide it works. Can the sound
file (chimes) be too long to play as part of an animation?

Hm. The chime sound effect works fine here on a rectangle with a wipe
animation. What is the actual animation are you using?

Oh, I guess I should also ask where you got the chime sound clip? I used the
one that came with PPT, but there's not a bell sound effect, so now I wonder
if we're not talking about the same thing.

Thanks for your help. I downloaded the .wav file from an internet site other
than microsoft powerpoint. The chimes last a little longer than the actual
ding, which is why I was wondering if it could be too long. When I test the
sound effect the object that I am linking it to actually dims like it is
trying to play but does not play.

Echo S.

After reading other material, I found that if I shorten the length of the
filename works just fine. Apparently, the filename was too long. Thanks so
much for your help.
