Sound will not play on other computers

JimB

I created a powerpoint slide show and inserted a sound wav file. It was
converted from a wma file to a wav file. It works fine on my computer.
However when giving to use on other computer, the slides display okay, but no
sound. I have tried everything to get it to work on other computers but it
won;t play the sound. Others have sent me slide shows with music background
and they plays fine on my computer. But when I try to do one then send it to
someone, they can see it but no sound. I am at my wits end.

JimB

I tried all those, however still same problem. I also noticed when I save
the pp file it is huge, sometimes 6-7 meg. However will not play sound on
other computers. I have received other powerpoint with msic background and
they are only about 3 to 3.5 megs??

You might first start by turning off "Fast Saves" if you have not already
done that as that has a tendency to bloat files once that is done, save your
presentation under a new name. Tell us how you converted your .WMA file to a
WAV file and what is the filesize of the Wav file?

I converted it from a wma file to a wav file using a shareware program. The
wav file was about 20 megs, then when I saved the pp slide show, the pps file
was over 7 meg??

Looks like your WAV file was not inserted into the presentation You need to
click on Tools | Options | General and increase the "Link files greater...to
read 50000kb

Put the sound file into the same folder as the presentation, re-insert the
sound file then try both the presentation and sound file on a different
computer and see what happens. Because, you say the presentation filesize is
7mb and the sound file is 20mb leads me to believe that the converted WAV
file is not being embedded into the presentation

Thanks for your help, I have converted the sound file to a mp3 file which
reduced it to 1830 kbs. It still plays on media player. Can I insert the
mp3 file instead of a wave file?

J

JimB

I just recreated the pp slide show with the mp3 file. My full ppfile is now
only 3740 kb in size. I am going to email it to my son to see if he can
hear it. Wish me luck.

Don't forget to send your MP3 file along with your presentation

Thanks for everyone's help. I finally got it to work, I saved the file
adding a riff-wav header using CDex version 1.51, and then it worked
