Sounds not playing in PowerPoint

I cannot get a wav file to play in PowerPoint 2000 on my notebook (HP
Pavilion) with Windows XP Home. I have no problems on my other two
computers, just this one. I can create a presentation on my desktop, burn it
onto a CD, and it will play on my Notebook just fine.

What happens when you double click on the wave file on your notebook?

Nothing happens. While I was waiting for a reply, I continued to search
through the postings and found a similar problem on another page. The fix
was to make sure the sound file was in the exact same folder as the
presentation. This fix has never been necessary in my other computers, but I
just gave it a shot. I believe it fixed my problem.
