Source for Resource Availability Graphs

This has been asked in this user group before; but no response (that I
could find).

Where does the data come from for the Resource Availability Graphs?
Specifically the 'assignment work by resource' and 'assignment work by
project' views.

Our challenge: our 'completed' projects are showing in these views
and thus 'junking' up our results. I am striving to eliminate the
'completed' projects (which have a separate category called 'My
Completed Projects') from these views.

Any ideas on how to do this?

Thanks!

When you close a project set the booking type for each resource to
"proposed". By default they will then be excluded from availability
graphs

Mike and Marc -

Thank you - you are both spot on. We use the checkbox for 'proposed
resources' - and then we see those that are proposed in projects.
However, this does not resolve my 'drowning in projects' problem.
Let me try to articulate again more precisely.
We have been using Project Server 2003 for 3 yrs now.
We have finally started 'archiving' projects by creating a new category
called 'My Completed Projects'. (Please know mgmt does not want
anything deleted yet! ugh, and thus, why we are drowning in this
scenario! :)

So now we have about 100 projects in My Completed Projects & about 60
in 'My Projects.'
My Projects contains only active projects; active projects have
committed and proposed resources.
My Completed Projects have only projects with 'completed' status and
all resources are 'proposed' and hours remaining = 0.

Thus, when we look at the 'view resource availability' graphs and
select 'include proposed resources' the proposed resources in the My
Completed Projects (i.e., the 100 group) and proposed resources in the
My Projects (i.e., the 60 group) show. I really only want the
projects in the My Projects category to show.

I know how to control this for views - i.e., set category = My Projects
only and NOT My Completed Projects.

But I cannot seem to control (i.e., tell it what group of projects to
include) the views labeled 'assignment work by project' and 'assignment
work by resource' in the View Resource Availability area.

Drowning in Projects JLG! :)

hi jlg, sorry for the late reply. I dont think that you can change the view
at all. Project Server 2003 does not allow you to filter this view. :( it
doesnt even let you create new views for this resource view.
sorry mate

I agree with Marc that you ghave very liitle control of this view. I
would have thought a Portfolio Analyser view would have met most of
your information needs but clearly is not as dynamic. One other
thought which I would not do myself, is to consider using the renaming
utility and prefix archive projects zzz....This enables easy
identification and lets you quickly deselect these plans from the
availability view.
