Source of Custom Menu

[PPT 2002] I have a program (Dataviz Docs to Go) that installed a
custom menu in PPT. I use the program, but not the custom menu.
After much tinkering around in Word, I found the source of the menu
in a user template. In PPT, however, I cannot find the source of the
menu. There are only two add-ins, and neither is related. There is
a .ppa file associated with the custom menu, but it is in the progam
directory, where--I think--it cannot do harm in the startup
procedure, and it is not, in any event, included as an add-in under
Tools/Add-ins. Where is the likely source of this custom menu?? I
can probably just drag it off the menu bar under 'customize,' but I
want to be rid of the source.

PPA files can be located anywhere, they do not have to be located in the
add-in folder. If the add-in loads the custom toolbar in PowerPoint and you
do not have access to the code, then it is an all or nothing deal. Either
the add-in loads (and installs it's special toolbar) or it doesn't.

One step you may want to try would be to reset the toolbars. If the add-in
is not active, then it may be just a leftover that was not cleared. If the
ppa is active, then it may only remove the toolbar for that session.

View | Toolbars | Customize ...| {button} Reset

You will need to re-customize anything you have changed on the toolbars, but
might be rid of the unwanted toolbar.

I would recommend that you write to the company that sells/created the
add-in and ask if they have an toolbar 'off' option available in the
program.

The first thing I'd do is contact DataViz to see if they have
any suggestions.

Steve and Bill,

I must have been moving too fast, because it turns out that the
DataViz ppa *was* loaded. I assume it was loaded from its
location in the DataViz program directory (if that's possible).
In any event, I unchecked it, and all is well.

Thanks for your responses.
