When trying to update Office 2k as local and domain administrator I receive
the message that says I no longer have access, followed by several other
options I can check. All have checked out to be correct. When trying to
uninstall and then reinstall Office, again as the local and domain
administrator, I received the following, "Installation source for this
product is not available. Verify that the source exists and that you can
access it." I went to the Explorer and made sure the Administrators were the
owners. Retried update and then removal. Same error messages. Also tried
to reregister at the start run prompt. No difference.
I am trying to get rid of the problem where if I double click on a Word or
Excel file to open it I do not receive the message "cannot open the file
"\\path\filename.doc" whether it is on the local machine or the fileserver.
This problem occurs on both XP Pro and 2000 systems.
