SP-3 updates?

My Office Professional 2000 Word, Excel, PowerPoint all show in the About
window that they are updated to the SP-3
My Presentation part of the program just show SP-1 in the Help About window.

I went to the Check for already Installed Updates, ran the process and it
shows me which updates I have. Hard to decipher.. but should the SP-3 patch
apply to Publisher also?

I am trying to figure out which area of Office 2000 is stopping Office 2003
from installing. It tries and then it stops and just reports "Fatal Error"
window. with no details.

I also looked at my HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\
There is shows a 8.0 and a 9.0 folder?

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0 shows and not a 8.0

I know I have only installed Office Professional 2000 from my full version
CD. It is not a upgrade version. So anyone have any idea why I have the 8.0
folder in my registery?
It has two folder in it BIDILangSupport & Outlook..maybe outlook is the
reason?

I don't use Outlook, I use Outlook Express.

Any ideas anyone?
I want to buy 2003 but since I can't install the trial version I am afraid
that the purchased version won't install either.

I can only answer part of your questions but here goes. 1st, I believe you
made a typo in your 1st sentence. Assuming you meant Publisher part not
Presentation part, you should have SP 3 in the About window for Publisher
also. I do.

Since I have 97, 2000, 2002 and 2003 installed on the same system this
following may not be your cause for the 8.0 folder. In my 9.0 folder, the
Fast Find key refers to Office 97 which is under the 8.0 key. Does yours
say the same?

As for the 03 trial failing, have you run a full antivirus and other malware
scan on the system? Also, have you tried installing the trial into a
different folder than the default and telling it not to remove the previous
versions of the Office software?
