SP1 and GroupBoard Workspace caution

I posted some weeks ago about installing Project Server 2007 into an existing
WSS 3.0 installation on my test network and mentioned that the Config Wizard
failed until I deleted all sites that had been created with the MS GroupBoard
Workspace; once all GroupBoard Workspace sites had been deleted the Config
Wizard succeeded and I was able to set up PWA.

Well, folks, today I attempted SP1 (using TechNet article "Deploy software
updates for Office Project Server 2007" and also reading thru "Deploy
software updates for Windows SharePoint Services 3.0"). I did not remove the
GroupBoard Workspace template from Add/Remove Programs before I attempted SP1
and that was a mistake I am posting here. Config Wizard failed. Error was
that the SharePoint_AdminContent_<GUID> database was a newer version than the
Application Server. That sent me on a merry google and a feeling of utter
hopelessness at what I found about recovering (not) until someone posted
somewhere he traced his failure to GroupBoard Workspace. I unistalled the
template via Add/Remove Programs and ran the Config Wizard again,
successfully. I verified the update succeeded using the log file and Central
Admin, Servers in Farm per WSS 3.0 article, and successfully connected to
Central Admin, PWA and a team site.

I hope this helps someone else.
