SP2 causes slow down in outlook preview and opening of mails

After I upgraded my Office XP to SP2 (OS=WinXP SP1), I noticed a very
pronounced slowing when I a do a preview or open my emails. Is this a known
issue? What's the fix?

Additional Info:

I just noticed that if Outlook Express is open, the problem goes away, ie
the emails in Outlook can be previewed and opened almost instantly (as
compared to a lag of 5 seconds)
