Is there any point in downloading SP2 just to help the updates with Publisher
2007? All I have in the 2007 Office is Publisher. If the SP2 has that much
disk space, it would not be helpful to me to load the hard drive with useless
data unless the SP2 would recognize that I don't have the other programs and
therefore not load to the machine.

Use Microsoft Update and it will only update Publisher if needed (unless you
have other programs to update.) The full download of SP 2 isn't needed.
