SP3 gone haywire

I have Office XP running under W2K. I installed the SP3 and now I can't
open the Office applications. It wants to install a Word feature and has
Error 1606. Could Not access network location %USERPROFILE%\Start
Menu\Programs\Startup\. Retry does nothing, so I click on Cancel. I
installed the full file version of SP3 for use without the install disc, but
it needs it to have this disc in the drive anytime I open an Office
application. What is happening and how do I fix it? Thanks.
