space next to a picture in text

When I put a picture into a paragraph of text, I would
like a bit of space between the picture and the text. The
only way I have found to do this is by putting the
picture in a text box, is there a better way?

yes, right click the picture, select picture properties and give a value to
the horizontal and vertical spacing boxes.

Right click the image, choose Picture Properties.
On the Appearance Tab set the horizontal and vertical spacing, which defines
the gap in pixels between the picture and text.

Text boxes are the worst possible way of doing this since the text box uses
VML graphics (only viewable in IE 5.5 and later on Windows PCs), and
absolute positioning.
