Whenever I cut & paste text from Word to Publisher, I get a single space at
the start of each paragraph - who do I switch this off?

Some time ago, I stopped copying directly from any document
type other than Publisher.

I first paste the text into Notepad to remove all
formatting. Then select all, copy and then paste into
Publisher. Yes, you will have to do the formatting that
Publisher understands and you desire, but the end result
will be worth the time.

In addition to Chuck's advice, be sure to go to Edit > Paste Special and
paste as unformatted text.

I have tried the paste as unformatted text and still get the space at the
start of the paragraph. The only way I have found is to create a text box
in the scratch area and insert the Word file. I can then copy and paste
from that.

This should not be necessary, there must be a bug in either Word or
Publisher.
