spacing between words in justified paragraph

Hi, i'm having a problemw ith microsoft word 2000.

My paragrphs are justified and sometimes the last sentence in a
paragraph will be stretched over the entire width of a page, even
though the last sentence may only have a small number of words in it.
Since there are a small number of words in the sentence and it's
stretched over the entire width of the page, the spacing between the
words is large. How do i fix this? Pressing enter at the end of the
paragraph doesn't work.

Thank you.

Howdy,

No expert I, but...

I just checked my copy of Word 2002, and it does not do what
you are describing. That tells me that there is a setting to
take care of the problem, but here is a likely workaround
that may help a bit until someone provides you real help:

View the doc on screen and look for the problem.

Select the s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d line and left justify it.

I also just saw this in the help file:

"Because the last line of text in a paragraph is often
shorter than the other lines, it may not appear to be
justified. To justify the last line in a justified
paragraph, place the insertion point at the end of the last
line, and then press SHIFT+ENTER. Be aware that justifying a
very short line of text may look odd because of the large
amount of space that will be created between the words."

All the best,
