Spacing

When viewed with Web Page Preview, some pages have large gaps of 'nothing'
which are not apparent when viewing it whilst in the working mode. I have
checked that the Text Boxes are not too big for the amount of text in them.
How does one bring the text and pictures closer together? This is a problem
when viewing in IE and FF. Thanks.

Run Tools, Design Checker to see if you have any conflicts on the page.

It is a big unclear as to what exactly you are experiencing, so I will make
some guesses. If you are using 'word wrap' to wrap text around an image then
this will not work in a web publication. If you are using non web friendly
fonts, you can get unexpected results. If you use special paragraph
formatting or line spacing, that will also result in your spacing shifting.
Check to see if you are using special formatting, line spacing, web fonts or
word wrap. If none of above then post back with more specifics.

I have checked and I am not using anything unusual, it’s very standard and
simple, one of the web site templates from MS Publisher 2007. The text is
Arial and there are Text Boxes and separate photographs. No text wrapping
around photos etc.
It’s not a problem of word / letter spacing in the actual Text Box, it’s a
problem of spacing (or large empty gaps) between the Text Box and for eg. a
photograph or a second Text Box. When I am in the working mode of the
website (ie able to add and delete information) it all looks 100%. Once I
view it in Web Page Preview, there are some large gaps between Text Boxes and
/ or Text Boxes and photos and I have to scroll down a bit before I get to
the next bit of text or pictures. I’ve checked to see that I haven’t left
any unused spaces in the Text Boxes - i.e. unused lines - and there is
nothing. I hope that makes sense. Thanks.

Sorry, but I don't know what else to suggest without seeing the file and/or
the site published. If you have the page published, post the URL to the page
and tell us specifically where the extra space between text boxes and images
occurs. If you haven't posted the website, then if you want delete all but
the one page where you have the problem, upload it to www.yousendit.com and
send the link to yourself, and then post it here for us so we can download
your Publisher file. Perhaps by looking at the file we can see what is
causing the problem.
