i asked this question before but got no replies. i am
supprised because surely this problem has come up
and been solved before? even the folks in redmond
eventually figured it out in outlook 2003.
outlook 2000 automatically renders html email including
downloading remote images and such, thus announcing
to spammers that their spam was read and ensuring
much more of the same. microsoft's answer to this
problem is to recommend buying Outlook 2003 (phhfft).
(turning off the preview pane is also unacceptable)
what i want is an Outlook addin that will look at all incoming
messages and modify any html to prevent downloading
remote images (web bugs) or communicating in any other
way with the outside world.
however.... all the changes must be easily reversible once
i've looked at the message and decided that it is ok. i get a
lot of legitimate email that includes such stuff and i just want
to be able to see it after i've verified it's not spam.
Any pointers to something like this? My searching has not
turned up much...
