spam and junk mail filters not working

G

Glarch

This week, my Outlook 2003 quit automatically sending spam / junk mail per
security level settings (high) into the junk file. It also does not
recognize, screen, and filter out mail from senders on the blocked list. I
have not touched any settings, and I have not changed any other security
installations or virus protections. Restarting Outlook and/or the whole
system has no effect.

Has an automatic update to Outlook inadvertently turned off these tools?
anyone else noticed this problem?

Did you install any Office updates?

I don't know and will have to check back on the update logs - generally I
just accept and install all MS updates sent overnight, automatically.

I checked update logs and found the following: Update for Microsoft Office
Outlook 2003 Junk Email Filter (KB959614), Installation date: ‎2/‎12/‎2009
3:01 AM, Installation status: Successful. Another Junk Filter update was
installed about a month prior to this one.

Was this latest update something more than simple listings and
identifications of junk?

In my original posting I said that this problem started a week ago, but I've
been traveling a lot for a month and I may not have noticed the problem until
now.

Try uninstalling the update and see if that changes anything.

Thanks for the sugestion - it worked. I uninstalled the Outlook Update from
2/12 and full function returned to Junk and Spam filters. I can't be the
only one affected by this update, but I have seen no other mail to that
effect - I wonder why. For the record, I'm running Vista Home Pro and
Office 2003.

Please pass this on to MS Upgrade tech staff, and let me know if there's
anything special I should do or watch for in the future.

Thanks,

Glarch

Sometimes this happens. Reappying the update often works.

I have no access to them.
