Spanish characters Crash word

My spanish teach reports that anytime she types spanish
characters it crashes Microsoft word Sometimes asking to
send an error report other times it will just close out and
not even error. It is happening to all my computers in
every other lab too, when using the languauge bar and going
from english to spanish.

Using Microsoft Office XP Pro

Thanks for any help I can get on this matter I am stumped.
