Specialized Need

Scenario:

Particular project has multiple tasks that start and stop of different
days (nothing new). Some taks overlap (again, nothing new). Each task
requires x number of widgets to be in use so as to accomplish that
task. This information is recorded in a Number field. I would like to
display on the Gantt chart a total (for each day) of the number of
widgets in use. For example, Task 1 (2 widgets), Task 5 (15 widgets)
and task 9 (7 widgets) overlap so I would like to display a 24 at the
bottom of the chart on that day. Any ideas?

The resource Usage view gives that information (be it on the top not at the
bottom)
