Speech Recognition Microphone is missing on my bottom task bar

I have a question. Yesterday the microphone, speech recognition icon was at
the bottom middle of my screen next to the time and other icons. For some
reason, it is missing and I would like very much to learn how to have this
microphone displayed again.
How do I do this?

1) What version of Windows?
2) Is the Speech Recognition active, but the microphone system tray icon is
missing?
3) What has changed since you last had the icon in your system tray?
