Speed Access2007

It depends upon the machine and the Operating System. With enough RAM and
processor speed you shouldn't see too much difference. Do not think that you
will get great performance on a 512 MB machine though. I use 2GB of RAM on
production machines.

Is it normal that Access 2007 is about 3 times slower then access XP

IMHO it depends on what kind of database you open. For A2007 format (accdb) I
don't see much difference. But MDBs are pretty slow when opening forms and
reports.

But MDBs are pretty slow when opening forms and

that's a pretty sweeping statement. the speed with which a form or report
opens depends on a long list of variables, from where and how the data is
stored, to how it's accessed, configuration of various database settings,
and the form/report structure itself.

Shure there are many things to consider when comparing performance, but...
Well, I've tested several bigger MDBs and opened them without changes in Access
2007 and compared performance to that under A2003. In every case they were
significantly slower. Switching between records is much slower.
And if I converted those MDBs to ACCDB format, performance decreased even more.
Opening a form with 10 thousands of underlying records sometimes takes to 10
seconds.
This behaviour has meantime been confirmed by many other users.

i misunderstood your statement, hon. i thought you were making a general
comment about the speed of forms/reports opening in Access, period. i didn't
realize you were continuing the comparison between A2007 and A2K3; i'm not
in a position to comment on any comparison between A2007 and anything,
because i don't have A2007 and have never used it. :)

I got the same exact issue. i got 2 machines(core duo). one xp prof and
another vista with 2 gb on both and has access 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2007. i
got the same db on different versions of access. 2007 is the worst in
everything and inconsistent. At firts it runs fine, the goes excruciatingly
slow doing development. Even the simple task of opening a report takes
10-20 seconds. MS better find a solution for it coz its the worst release
they got. its definitely the app and not the machine. so far i have not seen
a solution yet on my research.
