Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel How can I turn off the option which adds red and green underlines to questionable spelling and grammar?

In the Spelling & Grammar Preferences. Go to Word> Preferences & clear the
checks for 'Check spelling as you type' & 'Check grammar as you type'.

Just for future reference you might try having a go at any program's Help
before taking the time to search elsewhere for info about its features & how
to use them. Granted, Office 2008 Help in general is significantly less than
it should be, but this particular topic is fully covered:

Turn off automatic spelling checking

Thank you - actually, we did have a go at Word Help but just didn't find it ... searched spelling and grammar options, etc. ...

Thanks again !

Then make sure you didn't fall into Apple's little trap :) When you open
the Help menu be sure to select Word Help rather than typing into the Search
box -- It searches Mac Help.
