Spell check makes latin recommendations

Whenever I spell check a doc, it thinks every word is wrong and recommends latin replacements. I've exhausted my limited knowledge, and still see nothing in preferences that needs changing.

THIS DRIVES ME CRAZY...CAN ANYONE HELP??

Are you sure it's latin??

I suspect that the languages selected for your document is not the one it
should. Try selecting your text, and use Tools>Languages. Make sure US
English is selected there. Does it make the problem go away??
