my spell check is underlining the first word in each line
irregardless of its not being the beginning of a sentence. It is not
underlining words that are properly capitalized at the beginning of
the line. What do I need to do to correct this?
You've asked your question in a newsgroup devoted to Microsoft Access,
the database program, but I think your question is really about
Microsoft Word. If that's true, you can repost your question to a more
appropriate group by selecting one of the Word groups from the dropdown
list on the web page you got here from.
However, I may be able to suggest an answer to your question. My guess
is that Word is considering each line as a new sentence because you are
pressing the Enter key at the end of a line, thus making each line a
paragraph of its own. Normally, you wouldn't press the Enter key
between lines or sentences, only at the end of a paragraph. Since each
of your lines is a new sentence (as far as Word is concerned), Word's
grammar-checker is flagging the words that it thinks should be
capitalized.
If you want to continue entering a hard return between lines, you can
turn off this feature of the grammar-checker by clicking Tools ->
Options..., choosing the Spelling and Grammar tab, and either disable
grammar-checking altogether by unchecking the box labeled "Check grammar
as you type", or else click the Settings... button and, on the dialog
that is displayed, uncheck the "Capitalization" box.
